Modify menu appearance

Once you have created as many menu items and menu structures as you’d like with ProPhoto, you can control the appearance of each menu used on your site.

Use font styles to change menu link appearance, apply menu background images and colors, adjust menu & link spacing, and more.

First, navigate to the “ProPhoto > Customizer > Menus > Menu Appearance” screen, shown here:

There are three main tabs along the top, each giving you control over the three ways that a menu can appear on your site:

Mobile Menu – slides open from the side of your site.
Horizontal Menus – added to your site layout with a P6 Menus Widget, when you to display menu items horizontally
Vertical Menus -added to your site layout with a P6 Menus Widget, when you to display menu items vertically

Mobile Menu Appearance

If you choose to modify your mobile menu’s appearance, you will want to first be aware that ProPhoto allows you to modify the appearance of your menu links three levels deep.

Menu link font selections

You can set a font style for each of these three levels individually, via the Mobile Menu Fonts selectors.

Remember that these are menu links so be sure to work with the link appearance options for your font style to get the appropriate appearance.

Expand and collapse nested menu levels

Enable the option for vertical menu item collapsing, and any navigation menus which are more than one level (up to three levels) will receive a button alongside.

You can apply other styling (explained below) like indentation and divider lines to separate links at each level, like in this example:

Since this very help site is using ProPhoto 6, you can see an example of expanding menu links in the menu to the left – just shrink your browser until the mobile menu button appears.

Apply style and spacing

You customize the overall background, spacing, and indentation of vertical menus with the Mobile Menu Background and Mobile Menu Alignment settings.

You can also set background color, padding, dividers, and more for each of the three levels using the corresponding Level Menu Item Appearance and Level Menu Item Divider settings.

Mobile menu button, location, and behavior

You may use a custom image or tile design for a personalized menu button appearance. But the selection of this is in the separate screen here:

Horizontal Menu Appearance

Horizontal menus are the most common type, seen across the top of most website layouts.

Menu link font selections

Font style settings are provided for both top-level and dropdown menu items via the Horizontal Menu Fonts area.

Backgrounds, spacing, and dividers

You can set the overall background color or image, and control the spacing using the Horizontal Menu Background and Horizontal Menu Spacing options.

To set a graphic divider image for top-level menu items, use the Horizontal Menu Item Divider Image settings.

Styling for dropdown sub-menus

When your menu has multiple levels, control the specific appearance of dropdowns with the Horizontal Menu Dropdowns options.

Vertical Menu Appearance

The appearance options for vertical menus in ProPhoto are basically the same as those for the mobile menu. ProPhoto gives you the option to modify the appearance of your vertical menus three levels deep.
