Disabling social media scripts (GDPR concerns)

In order to make the social media functionality of ProPhoto work correctly, ProPhoto has to load external script codes for each of the social media platforms within the source code of your site. However, there has been some concern about these types of scripts as they relate to the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) made effective in 2018. For this reason, ProPhoto provides an option to disable any (or all) of these social media scripts. (Whether the scripts actually violate GDPR is not a determination we will be making.)

For most everyone, these settings can be left exactly as they are. But, if you are concerned and would like to disable, go to the “ProPhoto > Settings > Site Settings > Social Media” area within ProPhoto 7 and scroll to the bottom. There you will find checkboxes for each platform:

If you uncheck any of these boxes, it will fully disable that platform’s integration.

It should go without saying, but if you do plan to use any of the ProPhoto integration for those social media platforms, the enable box should remain checked.
